Zinc oxide for the production of zinc compounds and to drive organic chemical reactions

Zinc oxide is an essential starting material for the production of other zinc compounds such as :
zinc phosphate, zinc stearate, zinc chromate, zinc nitrate, zinc sulphate, zinc octoate, zinc naphtenate, zinc chloride, zinc acetate …

It is also used on its own or as part of a more complex catalyst system to drive a wide range of organic chemical reactions. One of the very well known zinc oxide applications is its ability to remove sulphur dioxide and hydrogen sulphide from the gases of, for example, hydrocarbon plants.
Grades used depend on the chemical purity required and/or the formulation of the finished product.

Main grades sold into those applications are :

  • direct grade (EPM)
  • indirect grade (Green Seal, Neige, Pharma qualities)
