Liège, Belgium – EverZinc, the leading global provider of specialty zinc materials, today announced the formation of “Rechargeable Zinc Materials”, a new business unit committed to “Powering Tomorrow’s Batteries” by developing and supplying advanced zinc materials for rechargeable batteries.

Vincent Dujardin, EverZinc’s Chief Executive Officer said: “With the establishment of this new business unit, our company is aiming to support the global decarbonization of our economy by making energy storage (ESS) and transportation (EV) affordable, safe and sustainable.”

EverZinc is already known as a leading producer of zinc materials for batteries. The company has been active in the primary market since 1976 and currently supplies 25% of zinc materials for alkaline batteries in the world.

“As an experienced producer of zinc powders and oxides, we want to play a major role in the rechargeable market” explained Vincent Dujardin. Before adding: “Zinc is abundant, cheap, safe, recyclable and above all full of energy, so the question is not whether this metal will be present in tomorrow’s batteries but when!”

EverZinc also announced the organization of R-Zinc 2.0, the second European conference on rechargeable zinc batteries in Brussels on October 13 and 14, 2020.

“The first edition of our R-Zinc conference was a real success with the participation of more than 50 companies”, said Vincent Dujardin. “Our aim is to build a community around zinc with material and battery researchers, developers, starters, producers and end-users, and to collaborate with these experts and all others who choose to join us on this ambitious journey.”

More information about the venue and the program of the conference will be communicated in the coming weeks on the conference website at www.r-zinc.com.
