We wish to engage 
a Chief Accountant

Everzinc, the global Zinc Expert is looking for a Chief Accountant who will be responsible for the accounting activities, the monthly legal entity consolidation and reporting, monitoring monthly control procedures, and assisting the global finance organization by providing GAAP advice and solving discrepancies.
The Chief Accountant will ensure that the European intercompany balances are zero and review balance sheet reconciliations monthly for the European entities. Additionally, the Chief Accountant will be responsible for enhancing workflow efficiency in the accounting processes, identifying workflow bottlenecks, prioritizing solutions and optimizing the effectiveness and accuracy of the accounting processes.

PURPOSE OF THIS ROLE:

The Chief Accountant plays a pivotal role in maintaining the financial integrity of the Global accounting of Everzinc. The responsibilities extend to the monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, financial analysis, and ensure the timely preparation of critical financial documentation. Ensure an effective and efficient monthly financial close and help manage a successful year-end audit and timely annual statutory financial reporting. The position is critical in fulfilling the Company’s tax and customs compliance.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Lead and oversee the accounting processes, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Ensure Belgian operating entities comply with VAT, customs and income tax regulation.
  • Coordinate with tax advisor and US corporate team in case of complex tax topics.
  • Lead monthly and yearly closing process.
  • Coordinate statutory and Group audit.
  • Collaborate with European finance director and/or other internal stakeholders to identify and address key challenges and opportunities in accounting processes and systems.
  • Monitor, maintain and standardize the accounting systems and processes and implement modifications that increase efficiency, enhance internal controls and protect the Company’s assets.
  • Identify opportunities for and drive organizational initiatives to support process improvements and cost reductions.
  • Participate in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies, including the review and implementation of process and system changes.
  • Complete special projects and analysis in support of senior management, as required.
  • Manage ad hoc requests made by senior management on a timely basis.

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Have a strong knowledge of tax rules, accounting standards and principles especially BEGAAP; USGAAP, including month end closing process
  • Have a good knowledge of IT accounting (SAP) and reporting tools (Sigma is a plus)
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills preferably with experience in a matrix organization and private equity
  • Have the capacity to be Hands-on and multitask
  • Integrity, loyalty as well as positive, can-do attitude
  • Effectively communicate information and respond to questions from various levels within the organization.
  • Be proactive, engaged, energetic and keen to work in a dynamic environment

REPORTING LINE:

Reports to Finance Director - Europe

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum a master’s degree. (accounting or finance or equivalent)
  • At least 10 years of relevant professional experience

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in French and English.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • This position will require limited travel to other company locations.
